we will host lectures and events we are able to get close to!

launching OpenProcessing classroom focused on advanced generative form finding and fabrication techniques explained by professional designers. we would like it to become a place for feedback for the community: whenever a learned technique is applied to a project, the work [pictures, video, blogpost...] should be linked back there [using comments]. this way it can become much more than a dead repository. very excited how it can develop!

1_if you have small design/fabrication tools to share using media that we currently cover, do it and observe the effects. most of the things you’ve started, but have currently no time or no idea how to continue with, can become source of inspiration for many people. sharing is not charity in this case. it’s a great way to learn and evaluate your way of thinking outside of your territorial context [school, office, city, country, culture].

2_if you’ve found anything that people shared useful or beautiful, and used it in any context, show it. link the tool/technique with it’s effects to give feedback to it’s authors and the community [for example like this]. if you improved it, and you don’t need it anymore -look at 1_

3_if you need other media, than we currently cover, just add a node to our network-anything that can be linked back and forth is just right. you can use the same or similar name, so that it is easier to find us. you can administer it yourself or give us admin rights.

4_if there is a specific topic you would like to address, just add the node to our network. it can be called oaod.specific_topic and linked to other nodes. this can be a video channel, picture gallery, code sharing group, discussion forum, wiki, blog…just anything that can host multiple contributions.

sounds fair? any suggestions?

coordination of these efforts is one of main purposes of this network.

we believe that instead of relying in such substantial field on your favorite browser, it’s  safer and more inspiring to ask the community.

this way we can avoid promoting any specific agenda or particular interest-there is no central web page, just a number of linked nodes.
we are focused on custom tools creation, evolution and evaluation, since these can be shared with broader communities, and if proven useful-assist bottom up design and building processes.

furthermore, each one allows to customize the way, how we are notified about events we are interested in.

there are possibilities to join or create groups, respond with video comments, add related pictures, comment on someones ideas or share and develop codes.

the only thing that seems to be missing, is a way to coordinate and synchronize these efforts in order to enable creative collaborations.
creating a body of cross-linked  sites seem to serve this purpose.

creative contributions made each day by people using social networks are numerous but seemingly uncoordinated and unsynchronized. there is so much energy lost on inventing same things without knowing, that someone works along the same principles at the same time.

what if we could imagine, develop and actually build using this huge, currently underestimated potential?

formulating ideas and problems in architecture is mediated by the way we draw. nowadays there are several software packages existing facilitating geometry manipulation, representation and communication of future projects. architectural education is focused mostly on mastering this software.

what if we could create diverse custom tools collectively, with less effort and less dependency on cracked commercial software? could we then focus more on long term consequences of our work? isn’t that the urbanism we are looking for?

star architects traveling around the globe and selling their unique style are part of economy that is already over. cultural colonialism should be soon replaced by territorial activism. in order to create innovation contributing to local traditions, diversity of thoughts and their visual representations is necessary. it’s very difficult to observe, learn and creatively collaborate using same tools again and again.

what if we could coordinate and synchronize global thinking processes and make them leave large scale material traces? links on the right hand side!
