that’s quite simple:

1_if you have small design/fabrication tools to share using media that we currently cover, do it and observe the effects. most of the things you’ve started, but have currently no time or no idea how to continue with, can become source of inspiration for many people. sharing is not charity in this case. it’s a great way to learn and evaluate your way of thinking outside of your territorial context [school, office, city, country, culture].

2_if you’ve found anything that people shared useful or beautiful, and used it in any context, show it. link the tool/technique with it’s effects to give feedback to it’s authors and the community [for example like this]. if you improved it, and you don’t need it anymore -look at 1_

3_if you need other media, than we currently cover, just add a node to our network-anything that can be linked back and forth is just right. you can use the same or similar name, so that it is easier to find us. you can administer it yourself or give us admin rights.

4_if there is a specific topic you would like to address, just add the node to our network. it can be called oaod.specific_topic and linked to other nodes. this can be a video channel, picture gallery, code sharing group, discussion forum, wiki, blog…just anything that can host multiple contributions.

sounds fair? any suggestions?

About oaod

share design ideas, inspire others with your visions of space, develop custom tools leading towards full scale manifestations of open source culture! there is already a large community of designers using programing or scripting languages. unfortunately publishing source codes is still mostly an advertising strategy. it would be great to imagine and develop new custom design applets collectively, to achieve real diversity of outcomes. from very pragmatic to entirely imaginary. ...it would be even better, if this knowledge could be used by people outside of the discipline, so not bounded to specific software package (like rhino, maya, dp). this collection should develop into cross-software platform for creative collaboration. use comments to establish links to reworked software versions or similar topics. links below establish a networked body enabling various ways of inspiration, ideas and project development and possible implementation. please feel free to submit anything useful for designers, architects, city planners or urban thinkers. current source code exchange site: http://www.openprocessing.org/collections/?collectionID=330 general applications of processing in architecture: http://wiki.processing.org/w/Processing_Architecture our vimeo show-off page: http://vimeo.com/groups/oaod our flicr show-off page: http://www.flickr.com/groups/openarchitectureopendesign/ and this is how we are going to build! http://www.openarchitecturenetwork.org/projects/oaod_000
